Join me for an exhibition of diverse photographic portraits of local people highlighting aspects of their personality through storytelling. Each image is accompanied by three words that the individual identifies with and which I discovered when working with them.
ISAAC - Drummer, Scholar, Neek
This exhibition, featuring photographic portraits created in my last 5 years of professional practice is intended to reclaim the portrait as a true representation of who we are, by going beyond what we look like into our stories.
It will encourage self-love and self-expression and empower people to appear without fear of judgement, as their authentic selves.
Through in-person talks and workshops, and via an online exhibition and social media groups; we will challenge the idea that modifying our appearance in images should be the norm. We will discuss how such unreal versions of self might impact our mental health and confidence.
We will celebrate diversity, not just of appearance but of lived experience and encourage others to create their own self-portraits accompanied by 3 words.
Who We Are opens on Saturday the 28th of October and I’ll be at Cranleigh Arts all day on that day to meet visitors and chat about the work - do come along and see me!
Cranleigh Arts is open Tuesday - Saturday 10am to 4pm
